About Loose Skin/

Loss of Elasticity

Loose skin and loss of elasticity are common issues that occur as a natural part of the aging process, but they can also result from rapid weight loss, pregnancy, or other factors.

As the skin loses its elasticity, it becomes less able to snap back after being stretched, resulting in a sagging appearance. This can particularly affect areas such as the face, neck, arms, abdomen, and thighs.

Several key factors contribute to the development of loose skin and decreased skin elasticity:

●  Ageing: As you age, your skin produces less collagen and elastin—proteins essential for skin firmness and elasticity. This reduction leads to thinner, less resilient skin.

●  Sun Exposure: UV radiation from the sun can break down collagen and elastin fibres

in the skin, speeding up the ageing process and contributing to sagging.

●  Weight Fluctuations: Significant or rapid weight loss can leave behind excess skin

that was previously stretched by increased fat accumulation.

●  Pregnancy: The rapid skin expansion and contraction during and after pregnancy can

result in loose skin.

●  Genetics: Genetic factors can also play a role in how resilient your skin is to changes

in elasticity and firmness.

Click the links below to learn more about common skin tightening treatments:

Radiofrequency (RF) Therapy: RF therapy uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production and tightening existing collagen fibres. It can be used to treat sagging skin, fine lines, wrinkles, and cellulite.

Laser Therapy: Laser treatments, such as laser facials or ablative laser therapy, use laser energy to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture and firmness.

Microneedling: Microneedling involves the use of fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating collagen production and enhancing skin firmness and texture.

Injectable Treatments: Injectable treatments, such as dermal fillers or collagen-stimulating filler can help improve skin firmness and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. PDO and PLLA non-invasive face lift with threads.
